Big Tree Group, Inc. (BIGG) Fulfills Chinese Consumer Demands for the Rapidly Growing DIY Toy Market

As of last year, the toy manufacturing industry in China generated $29.2 billion, up 8.5% from the prior year, and reflecting annualized growth of 10% over the past five years. The bulk of the toys are manufactured for export, with nearly 70% of all toys sold in the world manufactured in China. As Chinese household incomes increase and families choose to spend more on their children, domestic demand has been increasing 16.8% annually over the past five years. Based in Shantou City of the Guangdong province of the People’s Republic of China, Big Tree Group has structured itself as a ‘one stop shop’ for the sourcing, manufacturing procurement, and distribution of toys, and hence is well positioned to take advantage of the growing trends for increasing demand in Chinese manufacturing expertise to service the global market, as well as the increasing demand among a growing number of Chinese consumers.

Big Tree Group acts as an authorized agent for over 8,000 toy manufacturers in China offering in excess of 300,000 varieties of toy products including remote control toys, digital toys, sports toys, play sets, educational toys, dolls and infant toys. All toys undergo rigorous quality control tests done in their in-house testing facility. Retail distributers and can view their products either at their two expansive showrooms of 21,628 square feet in Shantou City, or through their Web site. Orders can then be placed which are processed for shipping to worldwide destinations.

In China, one of the latest crazes among parents and their children has been smart toys like jigsaw puzzles, DIY (do-it-yourself) toys, and 3-D construction sets. Such toys are marked by several common characteristics including an innovative design, high interactivity, and many carrying technology content. Designed to increase critical and imaginative thinking among children, Big Tree Group developed and began marketing their own proprietary construction toys called The Big Tree Magic Puzzles (3D) in 2011. The Big Tree Magic Puzzles can be constructed into a range of different objects including flowers and robots. As the standard of living continues to improve in China as well as awareness of the importance of early education, educational and DIY toys now have grown from 10% of total domestic toy sales to a current 25% of all toy sales in China. This trend is expected to continue.

Though China is a major toy manufacturing and export country, the domestic market almost has been taken up by foreign brands. Among the top ten toy brands in the Chinese market, the top two are foreign ones, LEGO and Mattel, and six out of those ten enterprises are foreign-owned subsidies in China. The biggest consumer of toys continues to be the United States followed by Britain. However, considering China’s sizable population of 1.35 billion and the growing demand for consumer products, the domestic toy industry is expected to develop at a higher speed than ever and enter into a golden age. Even American retailers are recognizing this, so Toys “R” Us has developed Toys “R” Us China which now has 58 stores in the country with plans of rolling out further stores.
