November 8, 2013

NanoTech Entertainment today announced the excellent success of its 35mm film conversion and 4K streaming demonstrations at The American Film Market (AFM) held in Santa Monica, CA, November 6-13. With the technologies, media and entertainment organizations can cost-effectively upgrade their vast libraries of standard and HD content to a resolution that is four times greater than full HD and can stream their films to the increasing number of 4K UHD TV set owners.

4K Studios, a NanoTech subsidiary based in San Francisco, made its debut at AFM. Using proprietary processes, the multi-million dollar facility focuses on the creation of original content shot and mastered in 4K Ultra Hi-Definition as well as the conversion of existing media into 4K digital content with a quality that cannot be acheived by 2K and full HD.

For the AFM demonstrations, 4K Studios converted David Pomes’ 2009 movie, Cook County, into 4K UltraHD and streamed the film through NanoTech Entertainment’s revolutionary Nuvola NP-H1™ 4K UltraHD media streaming player.

“Industry professionals who viewed the film were not only amazed at the incredible detail and sense of depth they were experiencing, they were surprised that the NanoTech technologies are available now,” said NanoTech Entertainment Vice President of Product Development Alex “Lx” Rudis. “Analysts are predicting robust sales for 4K TVs, but we all know from our experience with HD and 3D that sales will be driven by content availability.”

Futuresource, a specialist in tracking the distribution of entertainment to consumers, expects most global TV brands to launch a range of 4KTVs by the end of this year, with North America expected to be a key market due to the strong consumer appetite for large screens. With TV replacement cycles now at six to eight years, the market potential is there because consumers are ready to replace their early HD screens.

Dataxis, a global business intelligence firm that specializes in the telecom, TV, and media businesses, estimates there will be 2.2 million 4K TV households at the end of 2013, rising to 66.2 million by end-2018.

NanoTech’s Nuvola NP-H1 is a commercial-grade, plug-and-play 4K UltraHD media streaming player that will enable media and entertainment orgs to fill the need for 4K content and drive the demand for 4K devices. The player connects to 4K displays using an HDMI 1.4 output port that supports 5.1 channel audio through the HDMI cable. Designed for tough environments that require 24/7 operation, the NP-H1 is housed in a rugged aluminum case. Optional SSD drive support provides the highest 4K performance.

4K Studio’s basic service includes a 2-hour film scan, digital ICE correction, an audio sync file and hard drive delivered in Quicktime ProRes 4444 .MOV file for $9,995. NanoTech Entertainment, Inc. (NTEK) Grows Operations, Video Support Capabilities at Silicon Valley Datacenter

September 11, 2013

NanoTech Entertainment, a technology company focused on all aspects of the entertainment industry, has expanded its online infrastructure as it prepares to release of its newest 4K UltraHD streaming services.

The company today reported that it has extended its multi-year contract with Hurricane Electric for use of its datacenter in Fremont, Calif. NTEK has expanded its lease, tripling its footprint for its state-of-the art servers and enabling the company to keep pace with its growing video library and storage demands.

“This expansion allows us to support over 50,000 hours of video content. Given our continued expansion of HD, Over the Top, Video on Demand channels, combined with our new 4K UltraHD content, we need to be prepared for the increased demand on our infrastructure,” Jeffrey A. Foley, NTEK CEO stated in the press release.

Foley praised Hurricane Electric as a complementary partner and noted its position as the leading IPv6 native Internet Backbone backed by a strong facility and support staff.

“Given our exponential growth, and the amount of data that we will be streaming as we move from HD to 4K UltraHD, we require a solid basis for our technology. It is very important to have selected the best technology partners in this space as we migrate our global network to the IPV6 backbone,” he stated.

Hurricane Electric is the most dominant Autonomous System (AS) in the global IPv6 transit topology, according to University of California research presented at the International Measurement Conference (IMC) in November of 2012. The company employs resilient fiber-optic topology and has at least four redundant paths crossing North America, two separate paths between the U.S. and Europe in addition to rings in Europe and Asia. Hurricane Electric first deployed IPv6 in 2001, and now offers IPv6 as a core service.

“Our early investment in IPv6 is paying off not only for Hurricane Electric, but also for our customers around the world,” said Mike Leber, president of Hurricane Electric. “Given the depletion of the IPv4 address space, we expect continued strong growth in demand for IPv6 connectivity and services.”

NanoTech Entertainment, Inc. (NTEK) Poised to Benefit as IPTV Market Gains Ground

August 28, 2013

NanoTech Entertainment is engaged in all facets of the entertainment industry, operating through five technology businesses that encompass 3D, gaming, media & IPTV, mobile apps, and manufacturing. The company’s strategy to success is finding potential in specific technology segments with room for future growth, and according to analytical firm iDate, the IPTV market offers just that.

iDate recently projected an increase in global video and TV revenues to $648 billion in 2017 from revenues of $526 billion last year. The firm’s research suggests that while cable will continue to have an upper hand in the industry, it will lose subscribers to IPTV providers, which is expected to be used in approximately 8.5 percent of TV households in the next four years.

NTEK’s entrance into the emerging IPTV market is through its NanoTech Media unit, which leverages cloud-based servers to enable worldwide optimized delivery of NTEK programming. The business unit is focused on developing a variety of technology and content published on the Roku, Samsung Smart TV, and other TV platforms, with options for smartphones currently in the works.

The business strategy thusfar is paying off. For the quarter ended June 30, 2013, NTEK recorded record quarterly sales of $818,185, beating projections by 10 percent, and posting its turn to profit with net income at $172, 644. Company CEO Jeff Foley in a press release attributed the increase in sales to expansion within the gaming and media industries, and forecasts continued growth as the company executes its plan to increase the number of streaming TV channels it offers.

Director Ted Campbell offered similar sentiment, saying, “We are very optimistic about our future strength as we continue to improve the balance sheet combined with our reduction in share overhead. We believe that we have entered a new phase for NanoTech, strengthening the company and putting it firmly on solid ground.”

Hannover House, Inc. (HHSE), NanoTech Entertainment, Inc. (NTEK) Joint Venture Spots Revenue Generating VOD Opportunity

In the last 20 years, Hannover House has transitioned from a boutique book publisher into a full-service media company, becoming the first studio distributor with a dedicated Roku-enabled IPTV site, leveraging strategic partnerships in its path to continued growth and opportunity.

The company is currently focused on a joint-venture (JV) project with NanoTech Entertainment to commercialize the VODwiz, a pay-per-video/video-on-demand (VOD) portal, for which the JV has deployed a beta-launch in preparation for its upcoming consumer roll-out.

NTEK is a technology company is engaged in all aspects of the entertainment industry, operating through three business units focused on gaming, media & IPTV, and mobile apps, complementary to HHSE’s consolidated offering of film, television, and video programming. The JV leverages both companies’ expertise to design and launch the VODwiz Web site ( and IPTV channel designed as a destination site that provides consumers with the ability stream thousands of independent films and major studio titles directly into their home televisions, computers, over the Internet, or mobile device.

Throughout upcoming weeks and months the JV anticipates adding titles from more than a dozen studio labels to reach a short-term goal of at least 2,000 titles for streaming. The long-term goal is to establish VODwiz as a destination for all mainstream and independent programming, offering an alternative to existing VOD sites such as Netflix and iTunes, which have a limited selection of titles.

The revenue model is to price most programming between $0.99 and $2.99, with higher pricing for special events and select major studio titles.

“Hannover managers feel that the VODwiz venture offer presents a major revenue opportunity for the company based on industry data for existing Video-On-Demand sites and the strong support that the VODwiz concept has received from the independent film distribution community,” HHSE CEO Eric Parkinson and President Fred Shefte stated in a recent business overview. “Delivery of films to consumers via Video-On-Demand methods enables Hannover House to avoid the costs of manufacturing, shipping and storing of videos, and also results in a near-instantaneous payment transaction.”
