Coastal Integrated Services, Inc.’s (COLV) Simply Lids Solution is a Mix of Slick Design and Modern Marketing

Innovative brands pursue personal interactions with their customers, placing more focus on culture than cookie-cutter ad campaigns. One arrow in this approach is to provide solutions that simplify or add efficiency to daily consumer tasks and behaviors such as communication, transportation, shopping, purchasing and even eating and drinking. Coastal Integrated Services has chosen to hone in on the latter.

Coastal Integrated Services entered the lid segment of the multi-billion dollar disposable beverage sector with the application of a simple yet functional product developed by its wholly owned subsidiary, Simply Lids, Inc.

We all consume beverages, and many of us drink them out of disposable cups we can take on the go. Simply Lids’ patented technologies were designed for clients in the food services industry whose customers need a safe, enjoyable drinking experience without splashing or spills. Disposable beverage cups are nothing new. Simply Lids’ innovation provides an alternative to the standard industry lids that tend to be flimsy, require the user to tear a pie-shaped mouth hole, or have a bothersome tiny drink hole.

Simply Lids designed its solution with a patented thumb-sized slider that serves as the vent hole for drinking or as a straw opening. The splash-proof, spill-proof design enables users to enjoy their beverages as if there were no lid at all and without spilling the liquid.

There’s more. The lid also serves as an advertising channel, again catering to culture rather than generic campaign. The Simply Slider™, as the actual product is branded, serves as a miniature billboard – an “adsert” – on which businesses can incorporate their logo. As the consumer leaves the store’s premises with beverage in hand, the Simply Slider™ is now a walking advertisement.

Coastal Integrated Services has identified a compelling $20 billion dollar opportunity in the food services industry. In addition to being an award-winning product – Simply Lids recently won the innovative new product award at the Seattle Coffee Fest Show; was rated a 10 out of 10 by Trend Hunter, which indicates placement in the top 20 trends for 2014; and was nominated for the prestigious Edison Award – the disposable Simply Lids are recyclable, use less plastic, and have a lower carbon footprint than other lids on the market.

This efficient, simple, environmentally friendly product design evidences Coastal Integrated Services’ position as an innovative company with a knack for knowing what matters to its chosen niche.
